5W2H Test Plan

Back in September while rehabbing my Achilles, I read a lot of articles and one in particular was a Stickyminds piece titled “Slim Down your Test Plan Documentation” by László Szegedi and as we have started a new project, I’ve decided to try this approach. The 5W2H approach is based on seven questions you ask: why, what, where, when, who, how, and how much. Using this approach, allows for a much easier digestible plan than your traditional IEEE plans. The 5W2H plan also allows for a much more efficient walkthrough with your stakeholders, which I always advise doing, as opposed to sending out for people to read and review.

The purpose of this, is to provide as much resources, procedures and information as possible, to make anyone coming into our department, that much easier. With our new hire coming on March 5th, they will be prepared to hit the ground running!

mabl

After hearing about mabl on Test Talks episode #182 and hearing more about it since then, I decided over this weekend I would try it out and see what it’s all about. mabl is described as “…an automated testing service that is powered by machine intelligence. You can use mabl to identify regressions in the functionality of your applications (currently internet-accessible web sites and web applications).” Way too early to form an opinion on it, as I’ve only been using it for a day now, but if you’d like to try it for yourself, you can get it at https://app.mabl.com/
